Open Mic night, sound guy

For the open mic night last week i took on a new challenge, because Alex Setzko graduated last year, nobody else knew how to set up the sound system. I had some previous experience with sound systems so i volunteered to help out. I did eventually get the sound system to work after finding the right cables with help from Connor Reed. I took a major risk volunteering to set up the sound system because i had never done it wthout the help of someone who was more experienced then me. Now, because i have figured out how to work the sound system, the student council wants me to help out on Friday 10/30 for the spirit day festivities.

Sturgis Organic initiative.

in our advisories for SOI we have been primarily discussing how we should move forward in constructing our documentary about open-mindedness. Recently, because we have been having open discussions about the documentary, i believe i have achieved learning outcome number 7, considering the ethical implications. In these discussions i have to help our advisory come to a decision about the documentary that everyone can approve of, to do this i have to figure out ways to pull ideas and being careful not to exclude anyone from the discussion.

Greek Club 10/29/08

Last week in greek club we worked mainly on vocaublary. We already translated one story in the Athenaze book and we thought it would be useful if we learned some first declension vocab words now to familiarise us more with the language. This will greatly benefit my to my final goal for this club because i am learning vocabulary that will help me eventually improve my translating skills for Greek, a task that is new to me as of joining this club.

Sturgis Organic Initiative

This week, our SOI advisory we discussed the idea of open-mindedness in regards to the IB learner profile. Eric and I volunteered to work on making a documentary about what open-mindedness means to Sturgis students and how we can be more open-minded. We'll also explore situations where open-mindedness would be useful. Also, this week in SOI we held our first bake-sale of the year. We sold organic tea and baked goods.

Greek Club 10/8/09

Yesterday in Greek Club we practised first declension nouns for most of the class. Now, i feel confident that i have memorised the endings used in the first declension, this will help me achieve my goal of being able to translate and read ancient Greek texts. In class, we also began working on the second declension to familiarise ourselves with it. Hopefully, by next week, i will have memorised that declension as well.

Riverview guitar lessons

Liz and i have talked about what we will be doing at the Riverview school this year. She will be unavailable until after field hockey is over so we agreed that we will start up lessons for this year when that is over. Also, this way there will be more time for the riverview school to collect more participants for the lessons.

Sturgis Organic Initiative

So far this year in SOI, we've discussed the possibility of serving hot tea in school. Eric and i have been set in charge of finding out how we can get tea for the school. Eric works at a tea shop in Mashpee so that should be a fairly easy task for us. Unfortunately, this week i have been out sick with a fever, so i will need to talk to Eric this weekend about what he has found and see where i can help. Also, in SOI we have discussed the possibility of purchasing commuter mugs to sell to students with the SOI logo on it.

Greek Club 10/1/09

This week i was unable to go to Greek club because i am out from school sick. I'll make sure i didn't miss anything by talking to Lydia tomorrow.
